An overview of this role
As a Senior Product Manager on the Tenant Scale area within Infrastructure Platforms, you’ll help shape how GitLab supports large, complex customers as they grow across departments, projects, and regions. This role focuses on the product choices needed to make tenant data more portable, scalable, and ready for a unified deployment model across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and, over time, Self-Managed. You’ll work on problems that sit at the intersection of product strategy, infrastructure, and customer needs, including how we build a platform to horizontally scale our SaaS architecture, how to enable tenant movement between environments, how isolation and regional requirements are handled, and what needs to be in place to support a more cellular architecture. In your first year, you’ll partner closely with engineering and product peers to define requirements, drive alignment, and help move this work from concept into a deployment model teams can build on.
What you’ll do
- Drive product direction for tenant scale and unified deployment capabilities across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and future deployment models, moving this work from concept into a deployment model teams can build on in your first year.
- Define requirements for our unified deployment platform,, including the capabilities needed before tenants can be hosted in a unified deployment unit.
- Partner closely with engineering counterparts and highly technical teams to turn infrastructure constraints and platform needs into clear product direction.
- Collaborate with product peers across the platforms organization, including teams working on GitLab.com and adjacent infrastructure areas.
- Engage with internal and external customers to understand needs related to isolation, regional deployment, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Facilitate tradeoff discussions around scalability, tenant encapsulation, deployment consistency, and platform unification.
- Translate complex technical concepts into product plans, priorities, and documentation that align distributed teams on delivery milestones for tenant portability and platform unification.
- Support a collaborative team model where product managers share ownership across a common pool of work and step into the areas where they can have the most impact.
What you’ll bring
- Experience managing product work in technical domains such as infrastructure, scalability, platform architecture, software delivery, or cloud services.
- Ability to work effectively with deeply technical engineering teams and build credibility in discussions about system design, deployment models, and platform constraints.
- Knowledge of how SaaS or platform-based systems scale, including concepts such as multitenancy, horizontal scalability, autoscaling, workload isolation, and production readiness.
- Comfort working with customers or internal stakeholders on complex requirements, including operational, compliance, or regional deployment needs.
- Skill in turning ambiguous technical problems into clear product strategy, priorities, and actionable plans.
- Experience collaborating across product, engineering, user experience, and other cross-functional partners in a distributed environment.
- Strength in clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining complex infrastructure topics to different audiences.
- Openness to candidates who bring transferable experience from engineering, technical support, or adjacent product roles relevant to large-scale platforms.
About the team
The team sits within Infrastructure Platforms and works on foundational platform capabilities. It partners closely with engineering, adjacent product managers, and internal customers across regions, with a strong emphasis on GitLab’s asynchronous working style and long-term platform thinking.
