Job Description
About Spark Advisors
We're building healthcare tech for a system that desperately needs it.
Each year, millions of Americans deal with confusing changes to their Medicare plans that impact their prescriptions, access to care, and pocketbooks. These aren’t just inconveniences – they are potentially life-altering changes that leave seniors medically and financially vulnerable.
Independent Medicare advisors play a crucial role in guiding seniors through this complexity and helping them find the right coverage for their needs. But their ability to be effective healthcare advocates has long been hamstrung by broken tools and outdated systems.
Spark is fixing that. We’re the fastest-growing Medicare platform in the country, combining AI, an industry-leading CRM, and client services to transform how 10,000+ brokers acquire, enroll, and support clients in their local communities.
Join a talent-dense team from Square, Ramp, Yext, Oscar, and Cedar — backed by Primary Ventures and Viewpoint Ventures — that is serious about building technology to expand access to quality healthcare. We offer remote work, sabbaticals, company retreats, and other generous benefits that earned us recognition as one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces of 2025
Healthcare is overdue for innovation. Let’s redefine what its future looks like — together.
Summary
Spark is hiring a VP, Product to own our product strategy and lead its execution. We are looking for a proven product leader with experience building high-performing teams and shipping impactful products in regulated industries. The right person is energized by operating as a player-coach in a fast-moving environment and wants to play a central role in shaping how Spark continues to define the future of Medicare distribution.
This role reports directly to the CEO and joins our leadership team. You will be responsible for ensuring that every product and technology investment maps to Spark's long-term business strategy and drives real outcomes for our broker and agency partners.
What You'll Do
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Spark's platform. Communicate it clearly to the team, to customers, and to investors.
- Act as a player-coach, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution based on what the business needs at any given moment.
- Build and grow a high-performing Product and Design team. Define new roles and product domains in close partnership with Engineering leadership.
- Develop deep expertise in our market and customers by spending meaningful time with brokers, agency partners, and carrier partners.
- Ensure the product roadmap drives broker adoption, revenue growth, and operational efficiency across the business.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Account Management to build a clear, consistent narrative around our product and where we are investing.
- Collaborate with Customer Success to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and ensure coordinated, well-supported product launches.
- Work with Engineering leadership to maintain a fast, iterative development process that balances speed, quality, and scalability.
- Own the operating cadence for how Product serves as the connective tissue between business strategy and day-to-day execution.
- Set and reinforce the cultural values of the Product organization and ensure they are felt broadly across Spark.
What We're Looking For
Deep understanding of the business, market, and user
- Extensive product leadership experience at a Series A to C vertical or marketplace company where complexity was real: multi-sided dynamics, SMB or operator workflows, and a business where the product and internal operations were deeply intertwined.
- You get into the weeds when it matters and have the instincts to know when it does, forming sharp judgments quickly and with incomplete information.
AI-era product leadership
- Sharp instincts for where AI creates genuine user value and where it doesn't. You know when to build and when to hold off.
- You think beyond AI-assisted productivity and toward redesigning how the team works: decision loops, review cycles, and ownership models built around AI capabilities rather than bolted on top of them.
- You use AI to compress the learning cycle, not just the build cycle. Faster hypothesis testing, tighter feedback loops, better decisions made earlier.
- You treat AI-specific risks: hallucination, data quality, model drift, user trust, as product tradeoffs you own, not engineering concerns you hand off.
- You can lead a smaller, high-leverage team across a surface area that previously required significantly more headcount.
Leadership and org building
- Proven track record of building high-performing product teams, including Product Managers and Product Designers, with a clear framework for setting goals and holding the bar.
- Experience operating in a high-growth, resource-constrained environment where ruthless prioritization was required.
Engineering partnership
- You know how to build trust with technical leaders, navigate tradeoffs between speed, quality, and scalability, and maintain a development culture that doesn't sacrifice one for the other.
Communication and influence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence executives, investors, and customers.
Compensation
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Spark. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Spark is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is listed below. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
Why you should join our team
By joining Spark, you will get in on the ground floor of a fast-moving, well-funded, and mission-driven startup where you will have a profound impact on the brokers and beneficiaries we serve. And you'll learn, grow, be challenged, and have fun with your team while doing it.
We strive to help you and your family thrive. We're committed to supporting your happiness, healthiness, and overall well-being by providing a comprehensive benefits program. In addition to your base salary, we also offer:
- Equity compensation
- Health care, including dental and vision through our PEO Sequoia
- Flexible work location; co-working available
- 401k
- Paid Time Off
- Monthly Remote Work Stipend (help cover costs of home-office needs)
- Paid Parental Leave
- Up to 14 weeks for birthing parents
- Up to 8 weeks for non-birth parents
- 11 paid holidays
- 2 week sabbatical at 5 years of employment
- Wellbeing Perks through SpringHealth, OneMedical, PerkSpot, and SoFi
