Job Description

At Anchorage Digital, we are building the world’s most advanced digital asset platform for institutions to participate in crypto.

Anchorage Digital is a crypto platform that enables institutions to participate in digital assets through custody, staking, trading, governance, settlement, and the industry's leading security infrastructure. Home to Anchorage Digital Bank N.A., the first federally chartered crypto bank in the U.S., Anchorage Digital also serves institutions through Anchorage Digital Singapore, Porto by Anchorage Digital, and other offerings.

The company is funded by leading institutions including Andreessen Horowitz, GIC, Goldman Sachs, KKR, and Visa, with its Series D valuation over $3 billion. Founded in 2017 in San Francisco, California, Anchorage Digital has offices in New York, New York; Porto, Portugal; Singapore; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As a Member of Technical Staff on the Platform Engineering team, you will architect the systems that allow our developers to ship code securely, reliably, and rapidly. From optimizing our monorepo build times to designing self-service cloud infrastructure, your work will be the force multiplier that enables Anchorage to scale. Internal developers will appreciate a well functioning build pipeline that allows them to get their code to production smoothly.

If you are passionate about Developer Experience (DevEx), obsess over build hygiene, and want to solve complex distributed systems problems in a security-first environment, this is the role for you.

You will:

  • Build the Platform: Design and implement the next generation of our Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, focusing on security, speed, and reliability
  • Monorepo Management: maintain and optimize the health of our monorepo, ensuring scalable dependency management and fast incremental builds
  • Cloud Architecture: Work with GCP to architect secure, scalable runtime environments
  • Developer Experience (DevEx): Measure and improve "DORA metrics" (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes). Identify friction points in the developer workflow and automate them away
  • Test Infrastructure: Build robust local and remote test infrastructure (ephemeral environments) to boost developer confidence and productivity
  • Cost & Efficiency: Monitor and optimize cloud and build fleet costs without sacrificing performance
  • Communication and Influence: Work with external partners and internal engineering and security teams to deliver secure cloud infrastructure solutions. Advocate the best practice across developer experience and CI

You may be a fit for this role if:

  • Software Engineering approach to Ops: You are a developer first. You solve infrastructure problems by writing software (Python, Go, Java), not just clicking buttons in a console.
  • CI/CD & Build Architecture: Deep understanding of modern build systems (e.g., Bazel, Gradle, Pants) and CI orchestration (GitHub Actions, Buildkite). You understand DAGs, hermetic builds, and artifact management.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency with tools like Terraform to manage cloud resources.
  • System Design & Observability: Ability to design distributed systems that are observable by default.

Although not a requirement, bonus points if:

  • You have experience with Kubernetes.
  • In your mind the word “crypto” stands for cryptography, not cryptocurrency.
  • You read blockchain protocol white papers for fun, and stay up to date with the proliferation of crypto asset innovations.
  • You have a background in the finance industry.
  • You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system. :)
