Finance & Accounting Accountant (Banking) - 6 months contract (convertible to perm)

Overview

Support the day-to-day finance operations of the Bank, ensuring timely processing of payments, accurate account reconciliations, and preparation of internal and regulatory financial reports.

Responsibilities

• Handle reconciliations for bank accounts and investigate outstanding items
• Prepare accounting entries related to operational transactions and monthly finance activities
• Process staff expense claims, vendor invoices, and intercompany settlements
• Support payment runs and cash funding requirements for branch operations
• Monitor suspense accounts and liaise with stakeholders on outstanding issues
• Assist in the preparation of periodic financial and management reports for Head Office and regulators
• Support year-end reporting, audit matters, and financial statement disclosures
• Participate in finance process improvement and system enhancement initiatives

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• Prior experience in finance operations or accounting within banking/financial services preferred
• Familiarity with SAP or similar accounting systems
• Good understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
• Strong attention to detail with good communication and coordination skills
