Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) — Enterprise Systems

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in .NET to join an established enterprise engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend services that power internal management and workflow systems. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional teams in an Agile delivery environment, and may be expected to provide technical guidance to junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services using C# / ASP.NET Web API
• Build and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs serving business-critical internal applications
• Manage data access and schema design using SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
• Architect and maintain asynchronous messaging workflows using cloud-based pub/sub services (e.g., AWS SNS/SQS)
• Implement and manage background job processing for scheduled tasks, automated reporting, and long-running operations (e.g., Hangfire or equivalent)
• Integrate with third-party enterprise platforms (e.g., document management systems, internal portals)
• Analyse requirements, estimate effort, and contribute to end-to-end technical solution design for new features
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and performance
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards and best practices
• Support onboarding and mentoring of junior engineers where required

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience in C# and .NET (Web API)
• Proven expertise in SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous messaging using AWS SNS/SQS or equivalent (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with GraphQL API development
• Experience with background job frameworks (Hangfire, Quartz, or similar)
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, clean code principles, and system architecture
• Proficiency with version control tools (Git / GitHub / GitLab) and project tracking tools (Jira)
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Good-to-Have

• Exposure to frontend technologies (ReactJS, HTML/CSS) for integration and collaboration with frontend teams
• Experience with AI/ML integration or intelligent feature development
• Familiarity with SharePoint or enterprise document management systems
• Prior experience in a technical lead or mentoring capacity
• Experience in financial services, investment management, or enterprise back-office systems
