Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

We’re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join nationwide government agile development team.  In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs, while contributing to architectural decisions and mentoring junior developers.

What you'll do:

• Design and develop scalable backend services and RESTful microservices using Java Spring Boot
• Build cloud-native solutions on AWS while ensuring system performance, reliability, and security
• Design and maintain database schemas, data models, and API integrations with frontend systems
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines while troubleshooting and optimising production systems
• Participate in system design, technical planning, code reviews, and mentorship of junior developers

Requirements:

• 8+ years’ relevant experience in Backend Development
• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related
• Strong experience in Java, Spring Boot & Terraform
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles (SOLID, DRY, etc.)
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Experience with AWS services including AWS Lambda and serverless architecture
• Experience in large-scale monitoring or distributed systems
• Experience in creation/maintenance of APIs
• Familiar with Agile and CI/CD practices
• Familiar in Singapore Government Project / SGTS
