Facility Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Job Description
We are seeking an analytical and innovative Facility Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing high-precision engineering systems, equipment parts, or facility layouts for semiconductor applications. You will translate complex project requirements into functional technical designs, ensuring full compliance with semiconductor manufacturing standards, safety guidelines, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Modeling: Conceptualize and develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing/engineering drawings using advanced CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or Naviswork).
Technical Specifications & Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) where required to ensure structural and thermal reliability.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change notices (ECN), and technical documentation for production or construction teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and Quality Assurance teams to review design buildability, resolve manufacturing challenges, and implement design improvements.
Vendor & Component Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials, mechanical components, or electrical parts from vendors, ensuring they meet the cleanroom or high-purity standards required in semiconductor environments.
Utilities & Facility Systems Design: Experience in ACMV, UPW, WWTP, PCW, Electrical, BMS, or Fire Protection to support semiconductor facility or tool installation projects.
Subcontractor Management : Handle subcon during design and construction stages: issue RFQs, review technical bids, coordinate design changes, and ensure on-site compliance.
Tender Participation: Source quotations from subcontractors, prepare technical tender write-ups, and support commercial evaluation.
Prototyping & Testing: Support testing and commissioning, analyze design-related issues, and iterate based on site feedback.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 4 years of product design or system design experience, preferably within the semiconductor, precision engineering, automation, or high-tech equipment manufacturing sectors.
Technical Skills
High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g. Naviswork, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication, cleanroom materials).
Familiarity with industry-specific standards (e.g., SEMI standards, ASME) is a distinct advantage.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and spatial visualization skills.
Excellent communication skills to present design concepts effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple design deadlines.
