Role Requirements

  • Proven service experience onboard vessels, ideally with BWTS and/or Scrubber systems
  • Mandatory hands-on electrical troubleshooting capability
  • Experience in system integrity, commissioning, and full-system understanding (formal engineering education preferred but not mandatory with strong practical experience)
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel and work extended hours when required

Job Description & Requirements

Salling Search is currently recruiting for a Vetting Auditor (Ethylene) for a leading gas carrier company.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, Vetting, you will conduct internal vetting preparation and training onboard vessels, ensuring compliance with international regulations and driving continuous improvement in safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal vetting preparation and crew training onboard vessels as per schedule
  • Identify areas for improvement and verify implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Verify that ship staff carry out required procedures as per assigned routines and timelines
  • Ensure vessels are managed and operated safely in accordance with the company's IMS procedures and all applicable local, national, and international regulations
  • Actively participate in and support safety campaigns, both in creation and onboard implementation
  • Ensure vessel compliance with SIRE and CDI requirements, and report any gaps or trends to the Fleet Manager, Vetting
  • Verify that onboard Planned Maintenance System (PMS) processes are carried out in compliance with company processes, including use of permits, risk assessments, daily work plans, and toolbox meetings
  • Monitor environmental compliance and early warning signs; suggest corrective measures including repairs and maintenance to prevent recurrence
  • Carry out onboard training to close knowledge gaps on safety matters
  • Analyse SIRE/CDI reports and verify that previously raised observations have been properly closed out
  • Provide proactive input to the Fleet Manager, Vetting (Singapore & Copenhagen) to identify trends and improve vetting results
  • Act as liaison between the vessel and senior management ashore
  • Verify implementation of evolving changes to SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Class, Flag State, Oil Major, and other applicable requirements onboard
  • Produce detailed inspection reports with explanations and photographic evidence of raised observations
  • Ensure all crew members are well familiarised with the SIRE 2.0 regime
  • Evaluate and provide inputs on Performance Influencing Factors (PIF) for fleet vessels
  • Train onboard staff on accurate data submission and preparation for the PIQ

Requirements

  • Sailed minimum as Master or Chief Engineer
  • Minimum 24 months of experience as Master/Chief Officer or Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer on tankers (gas carriers preferred); shore-based superintendent experience on gas vessels considered as an alternative
  • In-depth knowledge of rules and regulations governing vessel management
  • Technologically driven and comfortable working in a digital environment with logical process development skills
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage a 24/7 on-call lifestyle (outside of vacations)
  • Ideal candidate will be able to travel within Europe and countries around the west of the Atlantic Ocean on minimum notice
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills
  • Independent, outcome-driven, organised, and resourceful
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Empathy towards all nationalities
