Job Description
Chugai Pharmabody Research Pte. Ltd. (“CPR”) was established in Singapore as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (Chugai), a member of Roche group, in January 2012 and started operations on July 2, 2012. Located at Biopolis in Singapore, it aims to generate new antibody drugs based on Chugai’s proprietary antibody engineering technologies, such as recycling antibody®, sweeping antibody®, bispecific antibody, various Fc engineered antibodies, and other new antibody engineering technologies that are under development.
Position – Research Scientist in Pharmacology Unit
CPR is seeking a Research Scientist with strong expertise in both in vitro and in vivo experimental systems. The candidate will be responsible for designing and executing pharmacology studies, with a focus on disease target validation and characterization of pharmacological responses. A solid understanding of immunology, inflammation, and chronic disease pathogenesis is essential for success in this role. The candidate is expected to lead antibody-based drug discovery programs and participate in strategic discussions to advance programs through the pipeline.
Job requirements
The applicant should possess strong expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Deep understanding of experimental pharmacology, including the design and execution of in vitro and in vivo studies, with hands-on experience in cell-based assays, molecular biology techniques, and animal handling.
- Strong and proven expertise in disease biology with the ability to connect molecular mechanisms for pharmacological research.
- Advanced knowledge in translational pharmacology, including development and utilization of animal models, as well as integration of pathological, biochemical, and genetic.
- Knowledge and skill of protein or antibody engineering is a plus but not a must.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to interpret complex pharmacological data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to strategic discussions.
The applicant must have completed and be awarded with at least a relevant Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or a related field. In addition, the successful candidates must be able to demonstrate technical expertise in areas which may include molecular biology, cell biology, disease biology and in vitro and in vivo pharmacology as evidenced by projects, presentations, or peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Scientists with strong passion in medical science for creating and delivering innovative drugs to society which leads to saving patients suffering from unmet medical needs are highly desired. Familiarity or having prior work experience in antibody drug discovery work will be a plus, although not absolutely necessary. You should also possess good command of spoken and written English, excellent organizational and communication skills, team player mindset, as well as the ability to perform multi-task.
As frequent communication and liaison is expected between both the Singapore and Japan office, you should possess an excellent command of both spoken and written Japanese and English languages.
