Duty Engineer

Job Summary

Overall responsibility for Duty Engineer is to ensure the maintenance supervision of a variety of duties to help maintain the hotel's standards.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Develop, coach and counsel maintenance staff
• Schedule, arrange and execute jobs that would involve entire staff and/or contractors
• Read, interpret and execute projects based on drawings
• Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems (e.g. HVAC, boilers, fire alarm and safety systems, refrigeration systems, lighting, appliances and other hotel equipment).
• Provide a high quality of service to the guest and fellow employees
• Conducting ongoing room and equipment preventative maintenance program.
• Ensure pool is properly maintained to include cleanliness and chemical content.
• Perform daily logs of water, utilities and natural gas usage.
• Monitoring daily pool chlorine and ph levels.
• Read and complete work orders assigned by the Chief Engineer
• Assist in training the team of technicians
• Follow and support COMO Approach driven best practices, in achieving maximum sustainability in all areas of engineering operations, e.g. energy efficiency, proper supplies disposal program.
• Detect malfunctions and repair of any hotel equipment when needed.
• Make repairs to woodwork and furniture, masonry, painting, patch plaster, ceiling, trim, cut and lay different flooring
• Work with conduit pipe, drill holes in wall, and connect new wiring.
• Clean clogged drains and replace plumbing fixtures.
• Check exterior and interior lighting, maintain a list of light bulbs needed to be changed weekly
• Complete guest room and equipment preventative maintenance
• Maintain clean and orderly work area at all times
• Respond to all radio calls immediately
• Practice safety standards at all times
• Follow proper use of approved chemicals. Always use goggles and gloves when handling chemicals. Complete Blood borne Pathogen Training, Chemical training and Lock Out Tag Out training.
