What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is looking to hire an Energy Storage Project Developer. You will be responsible for leading origination and development opportunities for energy storage across Illinois. You will lead efforts by interacting with offtake customers, landowners, permitting officials, etc. to secure projects and move them through to investment decision. You will work closely with the larger Energy Storage team to tackle markets and identify customers who can benefit from storage systems.
You will be hybrid out of Chicago, IL. You will report to the Director, Energy Storage Development.
What you’ll do:
- Originate and develop energy storage projects, simultaneously managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and other development activities.
- Identify and interface with utilities, C&I customers, landowners, and other prospects to evaluate and secure new project opportunities.
- Manage proposal process for RFPs in a specified territory.
- Evaluate site-related due diligence in support of project origination.
- Work with the greater energy storage team to incorporate new markets and products into development opportunities
- Efficiently manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to facilitate the project permitting and approval process.
- Support internal finance, legal, technical, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction
- Manage project specific external consultants to support civil, permitting, and other development activities.
- Identify, manage, and resolve real estate issues, including but not limited to easements, access, and title concerns.
- Follow changes in the storage market and evaluate potential value that different offerings can bring to Nexamp projects.
- Travel as needed; some evening and weekend work required.
What you’ll bring:
- At least 4 years of relevant renewable energy project development or power industry experience, with battery storage technologies preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing projects from inception through investment decision in Illinois.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to independently drive multiple energy storage opportunities, manage schedules and budgets, and move projects from origination through investment decision.
- Ability to identify development risks, evaluate tradeoffs, and resolve complex issues related to siting, permitting, interconnection, real estate, and commercial lease negotiation.
- Ability to use standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and particularly Excel.

- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

Compensation
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $129,000 - $141,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
