Oracle Database Administrator

Job Description & Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage and administer Oracle databases (versions 12c, 19c, and newer) in production and development environments.

· Perform advanced database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.

· Design and implement high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and backup strategies (RMAN, Data Guard).

· Automate routine database tasks using PL/SQL, Shell scripting, or Ansible.

· Apply patches, perform upgrades/migrations (on-prem and cloud), and manage version control.

· Implement and enforce database security, roles, and user access controls.

· Monitor database health and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.

· Provide L3 support for escalated incidents and lead root cause analysis.

· Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support application and system integration.

· Participate in on-call rotation and support weekend deployments when necessary.

· Document architecture, configurations, and procedures for audit and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

· 6 years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience with at least 3 years in a senior/L3 role.

· Expertise in Oracle, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.

· Strong knowledge of Oracle internals, performance diagnostics (AWR, ASH, TKPROF), and troubleshooting tools.

· Experience with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle, or Azure Database for Oracle).

· Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident/change/problem management.

· Scripting experience (Shell, Python, or similar) for automation and monitoring.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

· Willing to Learn SAP HANA
